Formwork for concrete: basic characteristics

Have you started construction and are you planning to build concrete structures with your own hands? In this case, you cannot do without a properly made formwork. We will talk about this structure and how to build it yourself in this article.

Main Features
Steel formwork - prefabricated structure of special materials or debris, designed to fill the solution and form one or more concrete products. The base of this building are the shaping elements, which are held in the proper position by means of special supports or fasteners.

Important: Did you know that the use of formwork goes back to the time of ancient Egypt? There is a theory that blocks for pyramid formwork in construction were not cut in stone, but were cast from a variety of geo polymer concrete into special forms that could be crushed.

During the long history of building cement-based mortar solutions, a wide variety of formwork systems have been developed. But, despite the diversity of modifications, all these structures more or less effectively fulfill the function of foldable forms.

The assembly is done directly on the site. At the end of the concreting, the shape is dismounted.

If special components were used during assembly, they are left for later use. If the form was collected from improvised means, the price of which is low, the components can be removed, after dismantling, as construction waste.

In the construction of certain objects, a fixed formwork is used, which is not dismantled at the end of the concreting, but used in conjunction with the main structural element.

Requirements for folding formwork systems
Forms for cellular concrete or denser and heavier solutions must meet a number of requirements governing the parameters of strength, stability in space and accuracy of standard geometric dimensions.

It is important to understand that the quality of the shape assembly depends not only on how the finished concrete structure will match the design parameters, but also on the surface condition of the poured concrete products. Therefore, it is important to be professional when preparing equipment for the installation of prefabricated forms.
